About the plant

Bai qian is a milkweed relative of stream banks and damp ground in southern China, with slender upright stems, narrow paired leaves and small dark purple star-shaped flowers. Its root system is the identifying feature: a short knotty rhizome carrying a dense fringe of fine roots, all of them running out sideways rather than down. Break a fresh stem and it bleeds white latex, as the family does.

Suggested use

Shake well before use. Take 20–30 drops (about 1 ml, one full squeeze of the dropper bulb) in 2 oz of water or juice, up to 4 times daily, or as directed by a qualified healthcare practitioner.

Warnings

Not for use in pregnancy. Cynanchum species contain compounds that can cause nausea and vomiting in larger doses — do not exceed the suggested amount.
